During the academic year 1961-62 the Sardar Vallbhabhai Arts and Commerce College bifurcated to become independent institutions on their own and affiliated to the Gujarat University one year after this, The Sardar Vallabhbhai Education Trust started the Motilal Nehru Law College. Which began functioning during the academic year 1961-62. The College with its well-known members on the judiciaries at its faculty, quickly gained popularity among the enraging population of graduates. Simply giving knowledge of law was not the only idea or Motilal Nehru Law College. It wanted to included knowledge and love if the judiciary and also make the youth conscious of its rights, duties and responsibilities.
Motilal Nehru Law College had on its faculty many members of legal profession in Gujarat and India. A couple of them were on the benches of the Gujarat High Court and Supreme Court respected politicians of different time also has the honour of teaching at the Motilal Nehru Law College personalities like Prin. (Prof.) N.S. Pandya, Prin. (Prof.) Vinod Dixit and Prin. (Dr.) P.J.Ghandhi gave their best to make Motilal Nehru Law College a much desired School of Law for students wanting to take up the legal practice.
